Reading Redesigned

A Word about the Web

Web-based resources are highly adaptable and easy to use. School boards, educational publishers, students and parents need only to have access to the Internet and to the latest version of Flash player to use Reading Ahead resources. There is no need for tech support from the user end, no need for installed software or for space to be used on private or institutional servers.

Learning Objects:

A learning object can be an interesting, intriguing and vital part of learning if it fulfills the following criteria:

1. The object must be directly linked to a learning expectation or outcome of the curriculum.

Reading Ahead learning objects are designed in conjunction with certified, experienced, practicing teachers.

2. The object must transform the learning experience engaging the students in the curriculum in a manner that could not be done without it.

Reading Ahead learning objects are web-based, allowing teachers and students to collaborate across the classroom, across the school, across the district, and around the world.

3. The student work stemming from the object must be capable of being monitored, assessed and evaluated by the teacher.

Reading Ahead learning objects record student work and allow the teacher, through the teacher’s desk, to assess and evaluate everything the student does.
