"Overall the work the students have done is very impressive.  And it was very easy to mark.  I was able to get through a number of lessons in a short period of time"

"I have to tell you about what happened this week in my grade 10 class. There are several kids who are so unengaged that we were concerned about their success in the OSSLT. We divided them up and spent as much time as we could encouraging them to read the instructions, showing them what they were missing, and all those things we do. Before it was feeling like a losing battle, but in the last few days we have seen remarkable improvement in the students. They have figured out what is expected of them, they have begun to read more closely, they have even mastered the five paragraph essay! When they come into class they are aware of what they'll be doing and what is expected of them and I think this makes a big difference to them because they feel some degree of control. Out of curiosity i asked how many of them felt confident about the OSSLT next week and most of them raised their hands, including the ones who said the first few days that there was no point in any of this. These results are so rewarding. For the students and for us as teachers."

"The kids loved the Allan Iverson, Jeff Healey, Kraft Dinner and the Driver's Ed lessons. I would like to try this again next semester with the grade 10 applied classes."

"The site makes things easier to edit your stories, opinions and answers. It is more interesting to so this kind of work online because I am always on a computer at home for facebook, the chats, my itunes, my blogs..."

Katie, Grade 9 student

"The graphics on the program made things interesting. I loved the fact that you can create your own avatar and that you get to buy stuff for your locker when you finish your work. Hunting for your work around the school was also fun, kinda like hide and seek."

Mitchell, Grade 9 Student

"I liked how interactive it was and also how you could choose what you did and when."

"I think it definitely gave her practice and opportunity to improve her writing. I think it helped my daughter best with her comprehension skills which is what she is working on."

"I think that the interactive nature is great. I think that the medium is perfect for intermediate/secondary students who are familiar with the format. I think that the multiple options for responses is also great."

"It's a great way to keep my daughter engaged in learning using a medium that she enjoys, like the internet. She could go on it on her own time."
